Additionally Teague Police Department is authorized to pay for Academy tuition, and books for Cadets.

We provide Equipment, uniforms, and Firearms (pistol and rifle).

The city pays 100% of the employee medical insurance and 50% of dependent medical insurance

Additionally the city pays 100% of the employee and dependent dental and vision plan coverage

Retirement (TMRS 7% contribution with 12.76% city match, 5-year vestment, 20-Year Retirement eligibility)

Police Cadet

Hourly: $15.00
Annual Salary: $31,200

 Licensed Police Officer

Hourly: $20.00
Annual Salary: $43,680 base (additional pay incentives for certifications)

Police Cadet applicants must be at least 20 years old AND be 21 before academy graduation.  Police Cadets will be assigned to a Basic Police Officer Academy and must meet all requirements for licensing upon successfully completion of the basic peace officer program.  Upon successful graduation from the police academy the Police Cadet will become a licensed and sworn police officer with a salary increase to that of a new hire licensed officer. 

Completion of a City Application and Personal History Statement is required for all applicants.  Once you have completed the application, it will be reviewed, and you will receive an email with further instructions. 

 Phase 1:

All applicants must complete the City of Teague job application

PERSONAL HISTORY STATEMENT: Once you complete the Personal History Statement, you will need to return it and the city application to the Teague Police Department via mail or in-person to continue in the hiring process.

NOTE: Original documents must be included with packet.

Pre-Screen: must be completed and is required for all applicants to continue in the hiring process.

Failure to complete any of these forms (City Application and Personal History Statement) completely will result in you being disqualified from the hiring process. After reviewing these documents, if you are chosen to move forward these will be the next phases in our hiring process.

 Phase 2:

Background Investigation: The background Investigator will conduct and complete the background investigation. Successful completion of the background investigation will result in the applicant proceeding to the next phase.

Phase 3:

Interview Board: The applicant will be scheduled to meet with the Interview Board for an interview process. Successful completion of the Interview Board will result in the candidate receiving a conditional job offer or being placed on an eligibility list for future positions.

Phase 4:

Conditional Job Offer: This is made to a candidate that has successfully completed the Interview Board to fill a police officer position. The conditional job offer is contingent upon the candidate successfully completing the following:

Psychological Evaluation

Medical Exam & Drug Screen

Fingerprinting

Police Cadets will also be required to complete the following:

Apply to the police department’s selected Basic Police Officer Academy.

Graduate from the selected Basic Police Officer Academy within the term admitted.

Must apply for and receive a Texas Commission on Law Enforcement license to be a peace officer.
