The Economic Development Corporation of Teague, Inc. (EDC) is a non-profit corporation specifically governed by the Texas Development Corporation Act of 1979.  The purpose of the Corporation is to promote, assist, and enhance economic development in accordance with the Articles of Incorporation by broadening the tax base.

The EDC may assist companies and industries related to retail, manufacturing, industrial, research and development, small warehouses and corporate headquarters to locate to our community. We may also assist with support for facilities and infrastructure needed to promote or develop new or expand business enterprises limited to streets, road, rail spurs, site improvements, water and sewer utilities, electric and gas and proper drainage. The EDC may also undertake projects that improve our community's quality of life, including parks, sport facilities tourism, entertainment facilities and affordable housing.

EDC has an authorized number of directors consisting of seven (7) individuals, all of whom are residents of Freestone County, live in or near the city of Teague or own a business in the City of Teague and are appointed by governing body of the city of Teague (the mayor and the city council of Teague, Texas).
